Why this library exists

E-books in Albanian are in serious short supply. Even the best-known works of world literature, the ones read at school and quoted everywhere, are often not available in digital form at all. When they are, they are often behind a paywall, even though the work itself no longer belongs to anyone: it entered the public domain long ago.

This project was born to change that. A classic that belongs to all of humanity should not be hidden behind an unnecessary paywall.

Anyone, from anywhere, should be able to read a book in Albanian.

What we offer

New Albanian translations of classic public-domain works, free for everyone. Read them directly in your browser, on a phone or a computer, or download them as EPUB and PDF for your e-reader. All you need is an internet connection: in Kosovo, in Albania, in the diaspora or anywhere else in the world.

There are no accounts, payments, ads or trackers. Just the text and the reader.

The books are in Albanian. This English version of the site is for readers, partners and supporters who don’t read Albanian.

How a translation is made

Every translation is made directly from the original text, in an edition that is itself in the public domain, and never from another translation that is protected by copyright. A first draft is prepared with the help of artificial-intelligence tools. Then every chapter is compared with the original, revised sentence by sentence and edited until it reads as natural Albanian.

Mistakes still happen: if you find any, use the “Report a mistake” link on the book’s page. Every report is read.
